Participant Registration Specialist
Jade Spencer
Jade began working with HRC in October of 2022 after graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Family Studies. One of her professors knew the former President of HRC, Patty, and when she let him know she was looking for people to add to the team, Jade was eager to give it a shot. “Although I haven’t worked with HRC long, I do find it to be an amazing organization and a very rewarding job. I talk to a lot of the participants before and during the course of the classes and a lot of them express their appreciation and delight at how much the classes have helped them. It’s really nice to experience firsthand what relationship education can do.”
Get To Know You
- Where are you from? – I am originally from San Diego but currently live in Utah.
- How many years have you worked for HRC? I started with HRC in October of 2022, and have loved every minute of it.
- What is your favorite relationship principle you have learned from HRC? – My favorite relationship principle is power listening and really taking the time to hear what is being said with no thought to interject or defend yourself when someone is talking. I think that no matter who you’re listening to, whether it’s your partner, child or friend, we as humans feel truly cared about when we feel heard. I think it’s also important to remember that asking questions to make sure you heard someone right is a big part of power listening.
- What is your favorite movie and/or book? – Movie: The Proposal.
- What is your favorite place to travel? – I really love going back to San Diego because you really can’t beat that weather.
- Tell us a little bit about your family. – My husband and I just celebrated three years of marriage and we recently added a new puppy into our family. My husband is also from Zimbabwe so we always joke that everyone always thinks San Diego is cool until they hear he’s from Zimbabwe.
